In Monica, Pablo Lilienfeld and Federico Vladimir explore the history of each of their mothers’ very similar lives. Both shared the name ‘Monica’, grew up in Argentina as daughters of European war refugees and later migrated back to Spain. One left behind a huge number of fascinating paintings, the other posed as a nude model in the 1980s. The photographs and paintings form the visual building blocks for this performance, in which previously erased stories are fully reinstated.
