Featuring works by Marta Azparren, Esperanza Collado, Julio Linares, Beatriz Lobo
This exhibition marks the first major solo presentation of the work of Iván Zulueta (1943–2009) outside Spain, offering a unique opportunity for international audiences to engage with his groundbreaking artistic contributions.
Best known for his 1979 cult film Arrebato, Iván Zulueta was far more than a filmmaker. His work spanned graphic design, experimental films, photography, television, and painting, all infused with his blend of surrealism, pop art, and a tactile sense of the ephemeral. Rooted in the countercultural movements of the 1960s and 1970s, his art merges avant-garde aesthetics with personal obsessions, establishing him as one of the most innovative figures in 20th-century Spanish art.
In the exhibition, a new generation of Spanish artists – Marta Azparren, Esperanza Collado, Julio Linares, Beatriz Lobo – engage with Zulueta’s legacy through new commissioned works that reimagine his themes, obsessions, and distinctive aesthetic universe.
