Quatuor Tana
— Different Trains (Steve Reich)

As a child, during World War II, Steve Reich often commuted by train for days across the United States, from New York to Los Angeles, from his father to his mother and back. Later, he realised that, as a Jew, he had escaped a completely different kind of train journey. In Different Trains, Reich combines live string instruments with taped testimonies of Holocaust survivors and American train passengers. Tana Quartet will perform his work in the hall of the Bruges train station (in co-production with Klara Iedereen Klassiek) and at DE SINGEL, Antwerp.
